Daniel MacNicol

Chief Executive Officer

Daniel has served in various healthcare administration roles throughout his career including senior leadership positions in both acute and post-acute settings.  Prior to joining HealthSouth Dallas, he served as the associate administrator at the University of Virginia HealthSouth Hospital in Charlottesville. A graduate of Florida State University, he completed his Bachelor of Science in rehabilitation services, then obtained his master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of West Florida.  Daniel’s focus is to continuously improve the hospital in an effort to exceed the expectations of patients, visitors, staff and physicians.  

Ana Freed-Sigurdsson

Ana Freed-Sigurdsson

Medical Director

Ana began her studies at the University of Texas in Austin specializing in child development and family relationships. She then earned a master’s degree in education from Harvard University. Her desire to help improve the life of others led her to pursue a career in medicine. She received her medical degree and went on to complete her residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. She is board-certified in physical medical and rehabilitation. Dr. Freed is bilingual in Spanish and English, and her special interests include orthopedics, amputee and stroke rehabilitation. 

Lindsay Battles

Lindsay Battles, PHR

Director of Human Resources

Lindsay has more than 10 years of progressive human resources experience solely in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining the HealthSouth team, she worked in home health as well as at a continuous care retirement community that provided all levels of care. She received her Bachelor of Science from Texas Woman’s University and went on to complete her master’s degree in business administration at the University of Texas Tyler. Lindsay is committed to excellent customer service, both internally and externally, and enjoys serving as an advocate for those who advocate for others.  

Elysia Clay

Elysia Clay

Chief Nursing Officer

Elysia has a background in the acute care hospital setting, with extensive experience in critical care and emergency services. She has served in multiple leadership roles in several healthcare systems and brings a variety of perspective to HealthSouth. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in nursing and master’s degree in healthcare administration from University of Texas at Arlington. She is passionate about patient safety and employee engagement. She is dedicated to ensuring a positive patient experience, as well as working with staff to improve quality, safety, and service.

 Laura Farrar

Laura Farrar, CCC-SLP

Director of Therapy Operations

Laura Farrar joined HealthSouth in 2013 at the Fort Worth location and transferred to Dallas in December of 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Dallas Baptist University and a Master of Science in communication disorders from University of Texas at Dallas. Laura holds a Clinical Competency Certification from the American Speech Language Hearing Association as well as additional membership in Special Interest Group 13 – Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders (Dysphagia). She also holds a certification as a brain injury specialist from the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists.

Rob Gaston

Director of Pharmacy

Rob graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy. He has more than 20 years' experience as a retail/hospital pharmacist. Prior to joining the HealthSouth Dallas team, he served as director of pharmacy at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Midland. Rob is committed to a team approach focused on improving patient’s lives.

Stan Herrin

Stan Herrin, CHSP

Director of Plant Operations

Stan has more than 30 years of experience in facilities operations with more than 20 in the healthcare industry. He is a certified healthcare safety professional and spent seven years as a technical writer for safety and team growth. Prior to coming to HealthSouth, he was the director of plant operations in Okla. where he was responsible for a multi-million-dollar expansion to the hospital as well as six other locations. Stan has been a member of the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) for years and is committed to facility safety as well as well as team effort for the good of the community.

Cass Lucas

Cass Lucas, LMSW

Director of Case Management

Cass has been providing case management and advocacy services to a diverse client population for more than 14 years. As the director of case management she serves as an advocate for patients and families, ensuring a comprehensive approach to patient care is provided. A Seattle, Washington native, she received her undergraduate education from the University of Washington and went on to obtain her Master of Science in social work from the University of Texas at Arlington. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

Shane Oakes

Shane Oakes

Controller

Shane Oakes graduated from Mississippi State University with degrees in banking and finance as well as computer programming. He has served in various finance and accounting roles in the IT services industry as well as an acute care hospital setting. Prior to that, he worked in treasury management roles in the telecom industry, served as an auditor and loan officer in the banking and finance industry, and worked in administration at a nursing home facility. He has more than 25 years of progressive finance and management experience.

Cindy Tate

Cindy Tate

Director of Marketing Operations

Cindy began her career with HealthSouth in 2015 as a senior rehab liaison before being promoted to area director of marketing. She graduated as a Licensed Vocational Nurse from the John Peter Smith School of Nursing in 1992 before going on to earn her Certified Respiratory Degree from California College of Health Science in 1997. Her clinical knowledge has served her well in building relationships within the medical community. She has more than 18 years’ experience in post-acute care sales and marketing, and specializes in program development, physician recruitment and territory management.

Judy Uko-Akpabot

Director of Quality/Risk

Judy graduated from Florida International University, Miami, Fla. with both a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences/psychology and a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She has more than 20 years experience in the healthcare industry and has made a strong impact in patient lives in multiple hospital settings. Prior to joining the HealthSouth Dallas team, she worked in long term acute care as the director of quality/risk and infection practitioner. She is a member of the North Texas Association for Healthcare Quality.
